ST. MARY'S NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY MEMBERSHIP AND INDUCTION
To
be eligible for membership consideration, students must be a junior or
senior and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or above as of
the completion of the 1st semester of the school year. The phrase
“cumulative grade point average” refers to the total academic
performance as demonstrated by the grades received by the student only
while in attendance at St. Mary’s High School, Storm Lake, IA.
Additionally,
potential members must meet high standards of leadership, service, and
character. Eligible students will be notified during the 3rd
quarter of each school year and will be asked to submit information
including their leadership and service experiences. These will be
assessed by a Faculty Council appointed by the principal. Character will
be evaluated by ratings from all high school faculty members.
Scholarship is determined from the student’s grade point average, course
load, and participation in the Honors Program.
The above
information is reviewed by the Faculty Council and selection is
determined by majority vote of the council as directed by the National
Council. New members are announced and inducted at the annual NHS
induction ceremony which is held in the 3rd or 4th quarter of each school year.
